GE Venue 40 Training Part 3 of 8: User Interface and System Controls
This third segment of free video training on the GE Venue 40 Portable tablet-style hand carried ultrasound machine covers more in-depth usage of the user interface throughout its various imaging screens, as well as the controls on how to get around the system.
Although this training series cannot fully replace an on-site technician performing applications training on the GE Venue 40, it works well as a supplement to the user manual and a quick way to learn this portable ultrasound machine.

Transcript to the video applications training of the User Interface and controls of the GE Venue 40 point-of-care ultrasound machine:
In this third training segment, we’ll take a look at the monitor display and all the different symbols that are around the Venue 40 ultrasound. I’ll use the stylus to point these out.
Up top left, we have the patient. This is where you can select or change your patient information or the application that you’re using. Next, we have your SD card. I have an SD card inserted. And here it shows that I have 100% of the memory left. I can save a lot more images and it will show me how much is on the SD jump drive.
We have the power cable plugged in, shown here. In this portion, we have the date and the time. When we have a patient– when I enter a patient–and the patient ID, that’s going to show up in this area here. We have the probe and the application that’s set.
And then we have our indexes, auto-optimization settings, and here we have our gain. When I push the gain over here, we’ll show that it goes high, low, et cetera.
Down along the bottom are your soft keys for the bedside ultrasound machine. This will change in every modality that you’re in. Right now I’m set to MSK, so it’s going to allow me to go back to the patient screen, just like it would up here. PDI for Power Doppler. If I’m in a different setting, this will also show me color ultrasound machine.
Here we have auto for auto-optimization and guide for the needle guide. When we push on that, it will show the needle guide software and how it will be lined up with the probe in the middle of it. Anesthesia. Biopsy Guide. Push that again, we have a different guide. Push it again and we have our different angles. Keep pushing til it disappears if you do not like it.
We have our depth scale along here. Rightnow it’s set at six centimeters. If I keeppushing the depth, it will change the depth. We have three. Now we have four. Now we have five. Now we have six.
