The GE Vivid E90 premium ultrasound machine replaces the GE Vivid E9 as its top cardiovascular ultrasound for sale. The Vivid E90 features GE’s newer technologies and advances in cardiac ultrasound. As with other Vivid products from GE, this is a premium cardiovascular ultrasound machine that can also be used for shared services.

The Vivid E90 has host of advanced features, including single crystal probes, upgraded hardware and software including an upgraded cSound architecture.

The Vivid E90 has a long list of premium features for image quality, performance, and advanced technologies. This is also the same machine as the Vivid E95, with the exception of 4D cardiac ultrasound. Improved ergonomics found on the refurbished Vivid E90 include a 12″ UHD LCD touchscreen, and adjustable high quality 22″ high-resolution wide screen OLED monitor.

As a replacement for the older GE Vivid E9, the Vivid E90 has upgraded hardware, more options for single crystal XDclear and XMatrix transducers, improved quantification packages, and more powerful beamforming software.

The only difference between the E90 and E95 is the 4D option. So all other items in the review remain true to this cardiac ultrasound machine. Additionally, there is a fairly significant price difference between the Vivid E90 and E95, particularly due to the cost of the 4D cardiac transducer.

Between the Vivid E90 and the Philips Epiq 7, it can be a hard choice when choosing between these two high end ultrasounds. You’ll find many on each side of the fence, each with valid points about which is the best cardiovascular ultrasound machine.

Both should be considered, but often the GE can be found at a better price than the Epiq 7. However, we find that most Philips users tend to stick with Philips ultrasound machines without considering other manufacturers. The Vivid E90 should be a consideration, particularly when budget and features are concerned.

cSound on the Vivid e90 is a beamforming technology that uses software instead of hardware in order to render a more complete and lower-artifact image of the heart in 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging.

CrossXBeam is also known as compound imaging. It allows the ultrasound transducer to see from multiple lines of site at different angles, as opposed to the standard line-of-site that’s perpendicular to the transducer lens.

Speckle Reduction Imaging on the Vivid e90 portable ultrasound machine uses a special software algorithm to identify body tissue and eliminate artifact. The result provides a clearer image with reduced artifact.

The Scan Assitant on GE Ultrasound machines reduces scan time by automatically stepping the user through the steps of an exam. In doing so, it has shown to eliminate up to 78% of keystrokes. General Electric’s Scan Assistant initiates and completes required measurements, automatically steers color Doppler, sets up imaging controls and modes, inserts comments, and automatically re-orders images based on the user’s preference.

Q-Analysis is short for Quantitative Analysis. It includes quantitative assessment tools for LV (Left Ventricular) function. It includes assessment tools such as Tissue Velocity Imaging, Tissue Tracking, Tissue Synchronization Imaging, Strain, Strain Rate Imaging, and 2D Strain.

Tissue Tracking displays Tissue Velocity over time and displays a color band that represents motion or distance during systole, resulting in a display of systolic longitudinal displacement.

TSI is a parametric imaging tool based on Tissue Velocity Imaging that provides additional image enhancement for assessing delayed cardiac wall motion.

AFI is a semi-automated measurement that displays peak longitudinal systolic strain as a bulls-eye display. It is a clinical support tool for measuring left ventricular function at rest.

2D Strain is a research tool that allows the analysis of complete myocardial motion throughout the entire myocardial motion throughout the heart cycle.
