Philips Epiq 5

Call to configure, special pricing available 317-759-9210

The refurbished Philips Epiq 5 is a premium shared service ultrasound machine from Philips. It offers PureWave single crystal probes, superior ergonomics, and workflow, all in a compact and lightweight design. The Epiq 5 for sale replaces the older Philips iU22 and offers less probe options and features than the Epiq 7, which is higher priced. All Epiq and Affiniti ultrasound machines have a similar layout and use the same monitor and expansive tablet-like touchscreen for navigation.

Price starting at $34,900

The Epiq series replaces the well-known iu22 and ie33 lines with the announcement of new technologies, increased ergonomics, faster workflow, and a more intelligent platform.

The Epiq ultrasound machines are a big step forward in the ultrasound imaging arena, and these machines will command a premium price for many years to come.

The Epiq 5 is a slightly lesser version of the Philips Epiq 7 ultrasound, the key differences coming with XMATRIX transducers and some imaging process options.

nSight was introduced to the market in early 2014 as Philips major breakthrough technology for image beamforming and multiprocessing. With nSIGHT and enhanced processing in the machine, the Epiq 5 handles more information and provides better real-time imaging resolution.

SonoCT on the Philips Epiq 5 is also known as compound imaging (CrossXBeam, iBeam, etc). It allows the ultrasound transducer to see from multiple lines of site at different angles, as opposed to the standard line-of-site that’s perpendicular to the transducer lens.

XRES on the Philips Epiq 5 portable ultrasound machine uses a software algorithm to increase image resolution by reducing “speckle” (artifact) while brightening tissue in the image. The result provides a clearer image with higher contrast between hyper- and hypo-echoic regions.

iScan on the Philips Epiq 5 is a one-touch optimization in which the system evaluates the ultrasound image and optimizes Gain automagically.

Live xPlane imaging on the Philips Epiq 5 allows for a simultaneous display of two live imaging planes.

Philips PureWave is a transducer technology in which the crystals (elements) of the transducer are arranged uniformly, which is not the case with standard transducer technology. Philips states that PureWave technology provides more consistent image results.

Q-Lab is Philips Quantitative analysis software package for cardiac ultrasound studies. It includes a series of options available on some Philips ultrasound machines. These features include items such as ROI quantification, Tissue Motion Quantification (TMQ), Strain Quantification (SQ), IMT Intima Media Thickness), Microvascular Imaging, and GI 3D Quantification.
