Probo History
Founded in Fishers, Indiana
Probo Medical was established with a mission to lower healthcare costs by offering high quality ultrasound probe repairs, saving customers an average cost of 70% over the price of replacement. Starting with a small but dedicated team, we built a reputation for reliability, integrity, and customer-first service that remains the cornerstone of the business today.
Varsity Healthcare Partners Investment
Varsity Healthcare Partners made a strategic investment in Probo Medical, providing the capital and expertise to scale rapidly. Over the next three years, we completed six acquisitions, broadening our services to a full suite of services in ultrasound Sales, Service, Rental, and Repair. Our geographic footprint expanded from a U.S. regional provider to a nationwide network with multiple repair facilities and expanded field service coverage.
Avista Capital Partners Investment
Avista Capital Partners invested in Probo Medical to fuel international expansion and service diversification. Backed by Avista, we completed more than a dozen acquisitions worldwide, establishing operations in the UK, France, and Canada while growing our presence across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The acquisitions also added sales and service of more diagnostic imaging modalities including CT, MRI, Mammography, X-ray and more. This positioned Probo as a global leader in diagnostic imaging parts, service, and equipment.
Acquired AlphaSource Group
The AlphaSource Group acquisition further expanded our service footprint and added CT, MRI, BMD and other imaging modalities to our sales, parts and service offerings. Combining AlphaSource’s nationwide field service teams with Probo’s global infrastructure created one of the most comprehensive diagnostic imaging support networks in the world, empowering healthcare providers with faster, more reliable solutions.
