Controller Job Duties:

  • Create, maintain, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures for sales, purchasing, operations, and finance to effectively process through transactions
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Oversee the daily AP/AR/inventory transactions/bookkeeping and the employees and/or contractors hired to assist in these transactions
  • Become the resident expert for company’s Salesforce.com CRM / inventory management system, including the creation of reports / metrics, training on its utilization across all employees, and oversight of the developers’ projects and enhancements
  • Ensure employee expense reports / credit cards are correct and meeting company guidelines
  • Develop processes to ensure adequate cash flow is available to meet needs of a growing company
  • Act as point of contact with banking relationships and oversee all banking activities
  • Own all company analytics / scorecards by accurately collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Work alongside management team to analyze business decisions (capital investments, joint ventures, growth opportunities, etc.) and assist them with special projects as needed
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors (i.e. IT, Payroll, etc.) as needed
  • Perform month-end closing activities, including reconciliations of bank and credit cards, inventory, and systems disparity
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Execute account analysis for all balance sheet and specified expense accounts on a routine basis
  • Maintain company fixed assets records and related depreciation schedules
  • Perform routine risk management analysis and filings as needed
  • Work with outside audit and legal firms for issuance of annual financial reports and related tax documents
  • Prepare, maintain and file all necessary sales and use tax reports for various states
  • Execute necessary financial control duties to ensure effective protection of company assets on a regular basis
  • Perform past-due collection calls
  • Ensure all constituents are properly trained in the utilization of the company’s inventory system
  • Calculate all commission

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in a business or finance environment
  • Management experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Outstanding mathematical skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail

Education/Experience:

2-3 years of Controller experience
